First Day Of School!!!!!!!!

Today my son started his first day of 5th grade. Ever since he stopped letting me take his picture at school (3rd grade) I've started taking a picture of him in front of our house.

It's amazing how much he's grown since just last year's photo. I can't believe he is a 5th grader. It seems like yesterday I was taking him to kindergarten.

I'm looking forward to my son being back in school so that I can get some structure back in my schedule. Sometimes as a SAHM I have a hard time being disciplined in getting the things I need to be doing done. Especially in the summertime when every day my son asks excitedly "What are we doing today mom?!" I should be answering "laundry, dishes, grocery shopping etc." but I look at his cute face and that all goes out the window. I end up taking him to the pool, or great america or the movies. I'll miss that, but that's what makes the summer special, getting to spend time with my son and doing fun things with him. Providing memories for him.

Life is back to normal with getting up and dressed and out of the house EARLY, PTA meetings, Homework, getting to bed early, etc. etc.

Well, I guess I'd better go make dinner, it's a school night!!!! Bye for now!

My birthday weekend.....

This weekend we went camping for my birthday. I can actually now say I am getting a bit tired of camping. Don't get me wrong, we had a great time camping. We had good food, and good company along on our trip. Only a few annoying things happened during our trip like people who let their rugrat kids scream and yell at the top of their lungs at 7am or the idiots who open up the back of their SUVs and all you hear is "BOOM, BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM" - arrrrrrrrrrgh! this was at 6am btw. My cell phone wasn't getting any signal or you could bet I would be calling the ranger to complain. I guess that's what I get for going camping instead of staying at some nice ritzy hotel on my bday.

The guys went fishing in the mornings, they didn't catch anything but had a good time trying. My mom and I went shopping at the camp store, I bought this cute fisherman's hat for Miso... Isn't she cute??

As you can see she is absolutely THRILLED to be sporting this cool hat. =0)

We had some excitement on the last night we were there (there is always some kind of drama when I go camping...remember my little bug friend that flew inside my ear? btw - according to my friend who went camping with us who happens to be a nurse practicioner, the little guy is green and is STUCK to my ear drum - I am going to have to see a Dr. to have him try to flush the little bugger out)...Anyways....back to the excitement, some idiot in the campground next to us, actually drove his car into the water main causing a ton of water to come gushing out. The poor park rangers had to come and search for the valve to shut off all the water (which affected our water hookup). Luckily it took them a little while to figure out which rock the valve was hidden under so we filled up our fresh water tank before they shut everything off.

All in all it was a good trip. We don't have any more trips planned for another 2 weeks. School will be starting tomorrow and things will be back to normal (I hope!)

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Talk to you soon!

I HATE BUGSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

My family and I just got back from a week long camping trip to EAGLE LAKE.
We were so excited to go and join some of our other friends and their families
who have been going to this lake for years and talking about how great it is.

We got there (after 6 hours of driving) and were pretty tired. My DH had to get up at 5am to go fishing with the rest of the guys so we decided to get a good night's sleep. Good idea, except I had one little problem that turned into a big problem.
Right at the exact moment I laid my head down on my pillow, a bug flew into my ear and wouldn't come back out. I'm grabbing my ear yelling,"There's a bug in my ear!!!!!!"....my DH is like "are you sure"? I'm hitting the side of my head frantically hoping to knock the darn thing out (don't ask me why I thought hitting my head would help the situation any, but I was not thinking straight at that point).
I go into the bathroom and have my DH try to pour some bottled water into my ear thinking maybe it will drown the little sucker. It doesn't work and just makes my ear even more uncomfortable from the cold water. We wait to see if he stops flying (of course I refer to this bug as a "HE" because a female would not do something so annoying!!)...there's no movement for a minute and then all of a sudden I hear wings flapping like crazy and I yell "DID YOU HEAR THAT?????????????!!!!!!!" My DH is like "I can't hear it stupid, it's in YOUR ear!!!!!" This thing sound like a 747 inside my ear.....it was awful!!!!! At the time I thought it was a moth or something. So my DH is using a q-tip trying to dig it out of my ear, while shining a flashlight inside my ear, he can't see anything so he says maybe you just thought it flew in your ear and are hearing things....right then it starts flying again and I'm yelling and screaming "GET IT OUT!!!! GET IT OUT!!!!!!"....We had no luck and were both getting tired so we try and lie down to get some sleep since my husband has to be up early in the morning. The bug stops flying long enough for me to fall asleep and then I hear the wings flapping again and it startles me and I'm accidentally punching my husband saying "What was that?" THen I realize it's my litte bug friend in my ear still trying to find his way out. I decide I will shine a flash light (bugs are attracted to light right???) and he will follow the light and will fly his way out of my ear. NO LUCK. Finally about 6:30am I can't take it anymore, I walk out of my motorhome in my pink ducky flannel pajamas ( i could care less who sees me in my pjs at this moment) and I go knock on my friend PEggy's RV door (Peggy is about 25 years older than me and far wiser and surely will know what to do in this horrific situation). I say "Peg! I dunno what to do, there's a bug flying inside my ear and he won't come out!!!!". She has me come in, and gets herself a cup of coffee nad tries to analyze the situation and figure out what our first step will be. We try having me drink some hot tea and holding it at the back of my mouth while plugging my nose hoping it will steam the little bugger out. It doesn't work. So....she decides we will move on to plan B. She has me lie down on the bed on my side with the ear that's hurting facing up and she pours mineral oil into my ear and I lie there for 30 mins. She's hoping that the oil will stop the bug from flying cause his wings will get heavy and sticky. We wait....30 mins go by, no flying....She then has me lie on my back for another 15 mins and we realize still no flying...yeah!!!! We have no drown the dirty b&^tard!!!! Not sure what ever happened to the little guy, I"m just soooo happy he is no longer flying inside my ear...that was the worst thing ever!!!!Of course being the scrapbookers that Peg and I are, we had to have me pose with the mineral oil bottle and a few other props and take pictures to remember this horrible event....I can laugh at it now, but at the time it really was horrible. If you ever go camping, PLEASE check your pillow before you lie down, better yet, shove cotton balls in your ears before sleeping, that's what I did for the rest of the trip....I'm not taking chances!!!!! BTW- when we got back, we looked up bug in ear online and my friend actually advised me to do the right thing, mineral oil was the advice the online medical site gave. I think I will still call the Dr's office and have them check my ear out just to be safe....

Thanks for listening to my crazy camping story! The rest of the trip was relaxing and enjoyable!!!!!

Top 5 Products I could not live without today!!!!

Okay, this was a challenge given by another 2pea (My 3 Peas)
These are products that make my life easier:

#1) Pottery Barn Daily System (pics posted earlier in this blog but here it is again)

#2) My TIVO....absolutely CANNOT live without it!!!!!!!!

#3) My Aroma Rice Cooker.....not for me, but it sure makes my DH a HAPPY HAPPY MAN! He
is filipino and MUST have rice with his dinner EVERY NIGHT>....I can run out of milk, bread, soda, anything BUT rice or I'm in big trouble!!!!!

#4) My HOT TOOLS FLAT IRON

#5)My Digital Camera - CASIO EX-Z750 EXILIM - really any dig. camera will do as long as it takes decent pics and has a huge memory card cause I LOVE TAKING PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My new purchases!!!!!!!

Okay so I've been on a bit of a spending spree lately.
I finally realized WHY I cannot get out of costco without
spending less than 400 bucks...cause I keep buying digital
cameras, foodsavers, steam cleaners for my carpet....etc. etc....

I recently purchased a new digital camera, it's a casio which I was
unsure about but my mom has the same one for her work and loves it. It's
the Casio EX-Z750 Exilim 7.2 mega pixels. It has a HUGE lcd display on the back
that pretty much takes up the whole back of the camera making it easy to view the pics you just took. I no longer have to zoom in to see if someone had their eyes shut like I have to do with my sony camera. I can even take really long movie shots!

My other purchase was this:

I have been eyeing this from Pottery Barn for quite some time now. Every time I get their catalog, I bend the page, jot down all the pcs. I want from this system, add up how much it is, and never order it. I finally gave in a few weeks ago and it arrived and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I'm Baaa-aaaaaack!!!!

Sorry I've been gone a while....it's been pretty busy here at the mesogoofy2 household. We had a r/c boat race last weekend so we were camping, then this week we're preparing for a weeklong camping trip, plus we have a wedding to go to this weekend, food to cook ahead of time and freeze for our trip, packing, blah blah blah.

Good news or Bad News??? I'm not so sure

Today I went to see my ob/gyn to talk to her about why I'm still not getting pregnant. A little history for you, I have a 10 year old son, my DH and I waited til we felt we could afford to have another child because daycare here is outrageous not to mention all the other expenses that come with having children. I stopped working a few years ago and we started trying again. I finally got pregnant last November but ended up having an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy that ruptured causing me to lose my left fallopian tube. (*this was my 2nd tubal pregnancy, I had one a year prior to having my son). We've been trying ever since (even using the clearblue easy fertility monitor) and no luck. So...off I go to the ob/gyn hoping she will give me some "magic pill" that will solve my problem. She didnt'. She was very nice and I felt comfortable talking with her (my old ob/gyn left Kaiser so I was nervous about starting over with someone new but this dr. was really nice). She explained she would like to refer me to a fertility specialist and did not want to just put me on clomid or something else because she would feel better if the specialist would perform some tests to make sure that the one tube I do have left is in working order and not blocked in any way. She didn't want me to get pregnant and go through another tubal pregnancy and risk losing that tube as well. I'm kinda bummed, I was hoping there was a simple answer. I guess I was in denial because I know there isn't a simple answer to things like these. I am bummed that I waited this long to try for another baby because the age gap will be so big between my son and our next child, if we have a next one. When we decided to wait to have another one, I felt like we were being responsible because with our son we were struggling a little bit in the beginning and I didn't want to have to struggle with one more, I wanted to wait til we were more financially stable. We are doing very well now and I no longer have to work and it would be the perfect time for us to have another child, but I can't seem to have a successful pregnancy. I know I should feel grateful because I have had one child and there are a lot of people who are going through this but haven't even had any children. I know that would make things much harder.
I guess I'll just wait and see what the specialist has to say and wants to do. Maybe it wont' be that we need IVF or artif. insem. (our medical benefits do not cover that). I've also started thinking maybe adoption might be another option to think about down the road....we'll see what happens....thanks for letting me vent!
